           MICHAEL GREENOUGH RESIGNS AS A DIRECTOR
                              
Michael Greenough has today resigned as a Director of Allen
Plc where he held responsibility for acquisitions in our
building and civil engineering divisions.

Donald Greenhalgh, the Chairman of Allen, commented:

'After 26 years with the Group, Mike is leaving us to join a
private company in the building materials sector and I would
like to wish him every success in his new role.'
