                                 Trading Update


The Board of Speedy Hire is pleased to provide the following update on trading
in advance of its preliminary results for the year ended 31 March 2004.

Performance for the year is in line with management expectations.  For the 11
months to February 2004, total turnover increased by 16.0% and like for like
tool hire turnover was up 8.8%.

The Board believes Speedy Hire continues to gain market share and that the
business remains on track to deliver a year of further progress.

The provisional date for the announcement of Speedy Hire's preliminary results
is 3 June 2004.
