                                 Trading Update
                            Strong Trading Continues


The Board of Speedy Hire is pleased to provide the following update on trading
in advance of its interim results for the six months ending 30 September 2004.

Since the AGM statement on 21 July 2004, the Group has continued to make
excellent progress.  Total turnover for the first five months of the current
financial year increased by 22% and like for like tool hire turnover increased
by 13%.  All companies and all regions are experiencing record levels of
trading, further enhancing our position as the UK's No 1 equipment and tool hire
provider.

In line with our strategic plan we have recently completed the two most
significant acquisitions in our sector this year.  On 2 August 2004 Speedy Hire
acquired the tool hire business of Multi Group PLC adding 10 depots to our
network.  These depots are located in our key target markets in the major
conurbations such as Birmingham, Greater London, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester
and are being assimilated into the Speedy Hire network.

On 16 August 2004 we took a further step towards achieving our strategic
objective of being number one or two in every sector in which we operate with
the acquisition of Coates Rentair, a leading hire provider of specialist air
compressors, power generation equipment and lighting towers.  The addition of
Coates Rentair's eight hire depots means that our Speedy Power division is now
the UK market leader.

We continue to operate in a solid commercial environment and trading to date is
in line with market expectations.  The Board is confident that Speedy Hire has
continued to win market share and that the business is on track to deliver
another year of strong growth.

Speedy Hire will announce its interim results on 24 November 2004.
