Contract
EDF Energy - Workstream One - Major Substation Projects
The Board of Spice plc ('Spice') is pleased to announce that its Utility
Services business has been selected to work as a key service partner to EDF
Energy Network Business in connection with delivering improvements to its
electrical distribution networks and infrastructure throughout London, the South
East and the East of England.
The contract is for four years with an option to extend for a further five years
to December 2016. The average estimated turnover value per annum is expected to
be £10 million. Work activities will focus on the investment in, and upgrade of,
EDF Energy Networks Major 132/33KV substations. As a result of this, Spice will
establish new offices in East Anglia and the South East, within which we will be
working alongside client staff from EDF Energy Networks Business as part of an
integrated project delivery team.
Spice has previously announced in May 2006 that its Utility Services business
had been awarded two five year contracts for the provision of volume asset
replacement services to EDF Energy Network Business - the contracts cover 11KV
Switchgear changes in Eastern England and the South East.
Simon Rigby, Chief Executive Officer, commented:
"We are pleased to be given the opportunity to work and further develop our
partnership with EDF Energy Networks in helping to deliver their key capital
programme. The length of the partnership will enable us to attract, develop and
train new staff whilst developing on our considerable expertise that we have
within Freedom. Importantly, this contract underpins Spice's visibility of
future revenues."

Spice is a support services business operating in the Commercial Services,

range of activities has since been expanded into the water sector, niche
telecommunications services, the public sector, energy management and commercial
facilities management. Spice's businesses have a common theme of delivering and
co-ordinating infrastructure services to customers, and the technological
