Contract - Western Power Distribution
The Board of Spice plc ('Spice') is pleased to announce that our Telecoms
infrastructure support business, within our Utility Services division, has
signed a contract with Western Power Distribution ('WPD') to design, supply and
install a replacement private mobile radio ('PMR') communications system across
over 100 radio site locations in the South West of England and South Wales. This
is a major upgrade of WPD's existing system and utilises Team Simoco's advanced
Xfin trunked radio technology.
The contract represents a major undertaking and will provide a significant
benefit to the Group's results during 2008. The contract also includes a 9 year
maintenance agreement and the Group anticipates having the opportunity to bid
for other similar opportunities in the UK in due course.
Simon Rigby, Chief Executive Officer, commented:
"This contract with WPD is great news for our Telecoms infrastructure support
business and is only one of a number of such contracts being let over the next
few years as the UK's telecoms infrastructure is updated.
WPD are the first Electricity Distribution business to commit to a major renewal
of their PMR system and the winning of this contract bodes well for further
cross selling opportunities for Telecoms into Freedom's core client base."

NOTES TO EDITORS
Spice plc
Spice is a support services business operating in the Commercial Services,
Public Services and Utility Services sectors. The Group's operations were
founded in 1996 and have their origins in the electricity industry, though the
range of activities has since been expanded into the water sector, niche
telecommunications services, the public sector, energy management and commercial
facilities management. Spice's businesses have a common theme of delivering and
co-ordinating infrastructure services to customers, and the technological
element within the product mix has been built up significantly over the course
of the last three years.
Xfin trunked radio technology
The Xfin system is the most advanced IP (internet protocol) based MPT ('multi
site protocol') trunked radio solution in the world. It comprises the latest in
MPT trunked radio base stations with IP ethernet connectivity to provide a
