DUNCAN LEWIS APPOINTED NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
London, UK - 15 June 2007: Spirent Communications plc ("Spirent" or "the Company
") (LSE: SPT), a leading communications technology company, today announces that
Duncan Lewis will be appointed as a non-executive director with effect from 1
July 2007 and will become a member of the Remuneration and Nomination
Committees.
Duncan Lewis is currently Senior Advisor in Telecommunications, Media and
Technology at The Carlyle Group. With several previous senior executive roles
in the telecommunications industry, most notably with Equant, Global Telesystems
("GTS"), British Telecom ("BT") and Cable & Wireless, Duncan brings a wealth of
telecommunications experience to Spirent.
Prior to joining The Carlyle Group, he served as Chief Executive Officer and
President of GTS/Ebone, which, at the time, operated Europe's largest optical
and IP network carrying more than 25 per cent of Europe's Internet traffic.
Duncan was also Managing Director of Equant NV, the world's largest global data
network exclusively serving multinational companies prior to its sale to France
Telecom. Before Equant, Duncan was Chief Executive Officer at Granada Media
Group and Mercury Communications. He also held various other senior roles at
Cable & Wireless and BT. Duncan studied at Cambridge University after serving
in Senegal for Voluntary Service Overseas. He was also a visiting Professor of
Business Management at Strathclyde University.
