                NOTIFICATION OF DATE OF 2005 PRELIMINARY RESULTS


London, UK - 26 January 2006: Spirent plc (LSE: SPT; NYSE: SPM), a leading
communications technology company, announces that it intends to release its
preliminary results for the year to 31 December 2005 on Thursday 23 February
2006 before the opening of the UK market.


The Company will host a results presentation at 09.30 UK time on Thursday 23
February 2006.  A simultaneous webcast of the presentation will be available on
