                    Appointment of Non-Executive Chairman

Sportech PLC ('the Company') announces the appointment of David Mathewson as
non-executive Chairman of the Company. Mr Mathewson is currently a
non-executive Director of Sportech, and has a broad range of City experience
including his current consultancy position with Andersen Corporate Finance.

He will take up his new role with effect from 31st December 2001, following
the retirement from the board of Chairman Malcolm McIver. The board wishes to
extend its sincere thanks to Mr McIver for his long service to the Company
and, in particular, the role he has played in steering Sportech through its
acquisition of Littlewoods Leisure and transformation into the UK's leading
provider of gaming products to the home.
