SCOTTISH AND SOUTHERN ENERGY PLC (THE 'COMPANY')


Scottish and Southern Energy plc has today made application to the UK Listing
Authority and the London Stock Exchange for a block listing of 10 million
ordinary shares of 50 pence each to be admitted to the Official List.

These shares will rank pari passu with the existing ordinary shares of the
Company and will be issued in connection with future conversions of the 3.75%
Convertible Bonds due 2009.
