                       Scottish and Southern Energy Plc

Scottish and Southern Energy announced today that Peter Stormoth Darling  will
retire  from the Board and as Chairman of the Audit Committee at the  time  of
the  AGM  in  July, having completed two three year terms as  a  non-executive
director.

Sir Graeme Odgers will succeed Peter Stormoth Darling as Chairman of the Audit
Committee.
