Notification of Directors'/PDMRs' Interests

James Smith,PDMR, elected to call for the release of 3,161 Shares held by the Trustees of the Scottish and Southern Energy Deferred Bonus Plan ('the Plan') following their Maturity Date. Awards of Shares under the Plan can be unconditionally released to participants following the third anniversary of grant ('the Maturity Date').

 On 11 July 2008, James Smith sold all shares, 3,161, at a price of £13.99447 per share, sufficient monies were deducted to discharge income tax and National Insurance contribution liabilities arising on their release from the Deferred Bonus Plan Trust ('the Trust')and the residual monies were transferred to the individual.
