SSE PLC SCRIP DIVIDEND SCHEME

FINAL DIVIDEND FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2012

The Company was today notified by Capita Registrars, the Company's Registrar, of the acquisition of 237 ordinary shares by Susan Rice, Non-Executive Director, pursuant to her participation in the Company's Scrip Dividend Scheme in respect of the final dividend for the year ended 31 March 2012.

These 237 shares were allotted with effect from 21 September 2012.  The relevant Scrip Reference Price was 1,307 pence per share.

Lady Rice's beneficial interest following this transaction is over 5,770 ordinary shares.
