Scottish & Southern Energy PLC 31 March 2005 The Company was notified on 31 March 2005 by Halifax plc, the provider of the all employee Share Incentive Plan ('SIP'), of the following purchases in the Company's ordinary shares:- a. that 28,273 shares were purchased at £8.89 using participating employees' gross salary ('Partnership Shares'). b. that the Company matched the Partnership Shares purchased by employees and purchased a further 16,575 shares at £8.89 ('Matching Shares'). The Company gives employees 1 Matching Share for each Partnership Share bought by them up to a maximum of 5 Matching Shares per month. c. that the cash dividends paid on 24 March 2005 were re-invested and used to purchase 14,882 Dividend Shares The 59,730 Partnership,Matching and Dividend Shares were allocated to employees at £8.835. The purchase was made pursuant to a regular standing order instruction with Halifax plc for the monthly purchase of Partnership and Matching Shares and the re-investment of cash dividends into Dividend Shares.
