APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Thomas Thune Andersen has been appointed to the Board of Scottish and Southern Energy plc ('SSE'), as a non-Executive Director with effect from 1 January 2009.
Mr Andersen is Chief Executive of Maersk Oil, Partner, Member of Group Executive Board A.P. Moller-Maersk as well as director or chairman of a number of companies within the AP Moller-Maersk Group. The Group is involved in industries such as transportation, oil production and shipbuilding, operates in over 100 countries and has its headquarters in Copenhagen. Mr Andersen is a Freeman of the City of London.
The appointment of Mr Andersen means SSE's Board will comprise four executive directors and five independent non-executive directors, in addition to the chairman.
Lord Smith of Kelvin, Chairman of SSE, said:
