ELECTRICTIY DISTRIBUTION PRICE CONTROL REVIEW

Scottish and Southern Energy Power Distribution (SSEPD), part of SSE plc, has noted the decision by other parties to seek permission from the Competition and Markets Authority to appeal the decision of the Gas and Electricity Markets Authority with regard to the electricity distribution price control (ED1) for the eight year period from 1 April 2015.  This will not have any impact on distribution companies' base revenues in 2015/16.

The planned price control was determined after more than three years of open consultation and independent analysis and will, amongst other things, deliver an underlying reduction in the distribution part of the average household bill of: £18 in the Southern Electric Power Distribution area; and £27 in the Scottish Hydro Electric Power Distribution area.

Colin Nicol, Managing Director, Distribution said:

"Customers benefit from a stable and transparent regulatory framework for the network companies that deliver electricity to their homes, offices and businesses and maintaining such a framework should therefore be a key priority.  Our objectives for the next eight years are to ensure robust supplies of electricity for customers, achieve the efficiencies required by the planned price control and earn a fair return for investors.  We will continue to focus on those objectives while playing our part in ensuring that any outstanding issues with regard to the price control are dealt with in the right way."
