SCOTTISH AND SOUTHERN ENERGY PLC

EXTENSION OF AIRTRICITY-RELATED LOAN FACILITY 

Further to its financial report, published on 12 November 2008, Scottish and Southern Energy plc ('SSE') has now completed the agreement with the relevant banks to extend by one year, to 30 June 2010, €600m (£500m) of its Airtricity-related facility.  This follows SSE's success in securing new funding of around £1.5 billion between July and November 2008, with an average maturity of 16 years and an average interest cost of around 6.9%.
