St. James's Place plc ("SJP")

On 30 July 2009 Mike Blunt notified SJP that he had transferred 7,399 ordinary 15p shares in SJP to his wife for nil
consideration.  After the transfer, Mike's beneficial shareholding in SJP is 110,662 ordinary 15p shares and his
non-beneficial interest is 7,399 ordinary 15p shares.

This notification is made in accordance with Disclosure and Transparency Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a).
