NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT TO ST. JAMES'S PLACE

St. James's Place plc ("SJP"), the wealth management group, is delighted to
announce the appointment of Charles Gregson as an independent non-executive
Director with effect from 1 January 2010.  The appointment is subject to FSA
approval.

management experience from across a number of sectors and his appointment is an

Biography:

Charles Gregson, 62, is non-executive Chairman of ICAP plc and Chairman of PR
Newswire Association Inc. He was appointed Executive Chairman of ICAP plc in
1998 when the company was then named Garban plc which was demerged from United
Business Media plc. He joined PR Newswire Association Inc in 2003, where he
acted as Global CEO prior to becoming Chairman. Charles is a non-executive
Director of International Personal Finance plc and was recently appointed to the
Board of Caledonia Investments plc.

Charles has extensive board and senior management experience and has served on
the  boards of United Business Media Plc (1996-2007 as a Director), Provident
Financial Plc (1998-2007 as a Non-Executive Director) and MAI plc (1985-1996 as
a Director and then Deputy CEO).

Charles graduated in history and law from Trinity College, Cambridge and has an
MA in Law.  He qualified as a solicitor in 1972.

SJP confirms that there are no details to be disclosed under Section 9.6.13R (2)-(6)
of the Listing Rules.
