Standard Chartered Board Change 

Lord Turner

The Board of Directors of Standard Chartered PLC ('Standard Chartered' or the 'Company') announces that Lord Turner of Ecchinswell will step down as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 19 September 2008, following his appointment to be the next Chairman of the Financial Services Authority.

Adair Turner joined the board of Standard Chartered on 1 August 2006 and is a member of the Board's Audit and Risk Committee and Remuneration Committee.

Mervyn Davies, Chairman of Standard Chartered PLC, said:

'I am delighted for Adair. He is an outstanding individual and has been an excellent non-executive director of Standard Chartered. We will miss his contribution at the Board but believe he is ideally suited for this role. We wish him every success.'
