Standard Chartered PLC Director Change
Mr Sunil Bharti Mittal
The Board of Directors (the 'Board') of Standard Chartered PLC (the 'Company') announces that Sunil Mittal has decided to step down from the Board and resign from the Company effective 31 July 2009. He has been a Non-Executive Director of the Company since 1 August 2007.
Mr Mittal, Chairman and Group CEO of Bharti Enterprises, said
'I have greatly enjoyed being a member of the Board over the last two years. However, given my involvement with Bharti Enterprises, it is becoming increasingly difficult to balance my time with the demands placed on a non-executive director on the board of a bank. It is therefore with regret that I have tendered my resignation and I wish the Bank every success in the future as it continues to pursue its highly effective strategy.'
John Peace, Chairman of Standard Chartered PLC, said
'Sunil has been an excellent Non-Executive Director. He has been a pleasure to work with over the past two years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his valuable contribution to the Company.'
