Standard Chartered PLC
19 September 2001
Given the tragic events in the United States and the consequent uncertainty in
the global equity markets, Standard Chartered PLC has decided to defer its
listing in Hong Kong, which was scheduled for October, and the associated
equity offering.
Standard Chartered PLC remains fully committed to Hong Kong and to proceeding
with the listing when market conditions are suitable.
