                            Directors' shareholdings

The Company announces the purchase of shares in the Company made on 3 June 2004
by two of its directors, HB Shulman and GA Shapiro. 2,350 shares were purchased
by each director at a price of 475 pence per share.

Following this transaction, these directors' respective beneficial holdings in
the issued share capital of Solitaire are as follows:
