SMG acquires a further stake in SRH

The Board of SMG plc ('SMG') confirms that on 5 March 2001 it acquired a
further 644,000 ordinary shares and on 6 March 2001 it acquired a further
275,000 ordinary shares in Scottish Radio Holdings plc ('SRH'), representing
in total 2.8% of the company's issued share capital.  These shares were
acquired at 1587.5p per SRH share and represented a total consideration of
£14.6 million.

As a result, SMG now owns a total of 9,132,761 ordinary shares in SRH,
representing 27.7% of the company's issued share capital.
