Dr Chris Masters to be SMG Chairman
The Board of SMG plc ('SMG') announces today, 3 June, that Dr Chris Masters CBE
is to be appointed Non-Executive Chairman of SMG immediately following
tomorrow's Annual and Extraordinary General Meetings.
Formerly Executive Chairman of Aggreko plc, Dr Masters (57) is senior
independent non-executive director of John Wood Group plc and a non-executive
director of British Assets Trust plc, Alliance Trust plc and The Second Alliance
Trust plc. He is also currently Chairman of Babtie Group Ltd, the Scottish
Higher Education Funding Council and the Festival City Theatres Trust.
His appointment follows the decision of current SMG Chairman, Don Cruickshank,
to step down from the Board tomorrow, as announced on 26 January.
Commenting on Dr Masters' appointment, Don Cruickshank, SMG Chairman said:
'Chris' plc credentials are very strong indeed. He brings boardroom experience,
strategic focus and a business profile and he will undoubtedly further
strengthen SMG's already experienced Board.'
