STV confirmed as additional content partner on YouView
STV has been selected as one of the first of two initial additional content partners on YouView, the internet-connected TV platform which will launch next month.
At a launch event today, Lord Sugar, chair of YouView, announced that STV's content will be available via the platform, alongside the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. YouView will offer subscription-free digital TV, catch-up and a selection of pay TV. Sky's new internet TV service, NOW TV, has also been selected as an additional content partner.
"YouView is committed to providing the very best content and we've had over 300 expressions of interest from potential content partners," says YouView CEO, Richard Halton. "We're delighted that STV and NOW TV will join the line-up."
Bobby Hain, Director of Channels at STV said: "As Scotland's leading commercial broadcaster STV is delighted to confirm its role as a content partner to YouView. STV has an excellent track-record of delivering informative, relevant and entertaining content to audiences and consumers across a wide range of platforms. Today's announcement further extends our STV Anywhere strategy delivering content wherever and whenever consumers want it."
The easy-to-use YouView set top box, which will be available next month, is set to transform how UK viewers consume TV. Viewers will have access to more than 100 digital TV and radio channels, seven day catch-up and on demand programmes from the content libraries of STV, BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 - all delivered to the viewer's main TV.
YouView features an innovative electronic programme guide (EPG) that allows users to scroll back seven days to access a catch-up service. The platform will be available in HD and viewers can record, pause and rewind live TV.
