GOLD OIL plc
("Gold Oil" or "the Company")
Board changes
Gold Oil the AIM-listed oil and gas exploration and production company primarily
focused on opportunities in Latin America announces a major restructuring of its
board of Directors.
Mr Richard Mew, aged 54, will join the board as Chief Executive Officer with
immediate effect. Â Mr Mew is a highly experienced senior executive in the oil
industry with particular experience in business development. Â Richard was until
recently the Director of Business Development for Centrica Energy where he was
responsible for all upstream acquisitions, divestments, and business development
activity. Â He led the 2009 successful acquisition of Venture Production for
approximately £1.5 billion by Centrica and during his time with the company,
completed a number of other significant acquisitions. Â Prior to Centrica,
Richard held senior management positions with ChevronTexaco, Amerada Hess and
Conoco all with business development focus.
In addition Dr John Charlton, aged 66, will join the board as a non-executive
director also with immediate effect. Â Following a successful career with ICI
where he rose to the position of Group Treasurer leading the finance function
with around 1,000 qualified staff worldwide, John moved to Kvaerner the Anglo
Norwegian engineering and construction Group where he was appointed Chief
Financial Officer. Â Since leaving Kvaerner in 2001, John has served on a number
of boards including Biofuels Corporation PLC, Bateman Litwin N.V. and Potatopak
Limited, and has been the CFO of Trikona Advisers Ltd, the manager of AIM listed
Trinity Capital PLC.
Mr John Bell will replace Mr Mark Pritchard as non-executive Chairman but Mark
will continue to serve as a non executive director on the board of Gold
Commenting on the changes, John Bell said "I would like to welcome both Richard
Mew and John Charlton to the board. Â I believe that they will both contribute
greatly to the future growth of Gold Oil. Â I am looking forward to leading the
Company and believe we have now created a very strong management team which will
be able to deliver significant shareholder value in the near future. Â I would
also like to thank Mark Pritchard for his contribution as Chairman over the past
18 months and am pleased he will remain on the board as a non-executive
director".
