AS9100 certification and Aerospace progress
Surface Transforms (AIM: SCE) is pleased to announce that it has received its AS9100 quality certification. AS9100 (BS EN 9100) is the quality management standard for the aerospace industry and has become a necessary standard to supply into the mainstream aerospace market.
The Company achieved AS9100 certification in line with the schedule detailed as part of the pre-production contract (signed in September 2014) with a mainstream aerospace customer which will lead to sales at contract maturity of circa £1.3m per annum.
A senior management review has also been held recently with this aerospace customer who confirmed that the project is going to plan and has re confirmed the dates made in previous announcements. The President of the Division (who has been visiting the Company for many years) sees the partnership between the two companies as very important and was complimentary about general progress in the business.
Work also continues on the separate programme to develop a generic carbon ceramic brake system for both civil and military applications.
Furthermore, our customer has identified carbon ceramic brakes for use in future generations of helicopters. The first order has been received for demonstrator parts to be presented and evaluated by the aircraft manufacturer and US Department of Defense. This programme further strengthens the Company's future product pipeline, albeit new programmes on future generation military contracts take a long time to mature.
Kevin Johnson, CEO said "We are delighted with achieving AS9100 certification which supports our activities towards full volume supply in the coming years. It is also encouraging to also see our customers reconfirmation of the already announced military aircraft contract together with the progress on adoption of our technology on commercial aircraft and helicopter in the longer term."
Additionally, the Company continues to progress its parallel programme to achieve the equivalent certification for the automotive industry TS 16949 and expects to achieve this important milestone in the near future.
