SURGICAL INNOVATIONS WIN £170,000 CONTRACT IN TURKEY
FOR AUTOLOGOUS BLOOD PRODUCTS
Surgical Innovations also takes gold in top industry awards
Surgical Innovations Group plc, the Aim listed provider of
healthcare products primarily for the operating theatre, today
announces that it has secured a contract to supply its
autologous blood products to Turkish distributor Mikromed,
which specialises in this field. Orders for staged deliveries
over the next 12 months have been agreed in excess of
£170,000.
Commenting on the new deal, Ian Lomas Managing Director said:
'This new deal clearly shows that previous production delays
relating to the autologous blood products are now being
overcome.' He continued: 'Turkey has an advanced medical
market, which is difficult to enter and this deal is a great
endorsement for our products.'
Following initial discussions with Surgical Innovations the
Turkish distributor carried out market research to assess the
demand for autologous blood products in its country and found
it to be considerable. The majority of the order is to supply
the Intra-operative system (Haemocell ABT), although the
distributor will carry the full range of blood products. A
further market research study is now underway to assess the
opportunity for the company's keyhole surgery devices.
Surgical Innovations has also won the Gold Award at the PRW
awards for excellence for its new F4 product. The F4 is a new
handle design for keyhole surgery instruments.
The awards are held only every three years and Surgical
Innovations beat hundreds of nominations from a broad spectrum
of industries. Previous winners of the Gold Award, such as
Glaxo Wellcome's multi-dose powder inhaler, have gone on to
become market leaders in their field.
The F4 has been under development for 2.5 years and is set to
become the next leading product for Surgical Innovations. It
is due to be launched in the Autumn, although an order has
already been secured for the handle sets from a US instrument
company.
Ian Lomas commented: 'Surgical Innovations prides itself on
being at the leading edge of technology for keyhole surgery.
We have always placed great emphasis on R&D and an award like
this shows the value of that investment.'
