SANAFORTM PO-5 - US EPA REGISTRATION & D2P UPDATES

LAUNCH OF DURABLE ANTI-MICROBIAL SHOPPING BAG

Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc (AIM: SYM), global specialists in "making plastic smarter", with d2w biodegradable, d2p anti-microbial and d2t anti-counterfeiting technologies, is pleased to announce the registration of SANAFORTM PO-5 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and also the further expansion of Symphony's d2p product range.

SANAFORTM PO-5

The SANAFORTM PO-5 masterbatch is part of Symphony's d2p anti-microbial product range and is marketed under a Distributorship Agreement between Symphony and Janssen PMP (a Division of Janssen Pharmaceutica NV).

SANAFORTM antimicrobial technology, was developed by Janssen PMP (as experts in anti-microbial formulations) and introduced into plastics by Symphony (as experts in plastics).  SANAFORTM antimicrobial technology is included in the production process for plastic products for the automotive, industrial, healthcare, catering, textiles, footwear and home and leisure sectors - from building materials and appliances to food storage containers and chopping boards, toilet seats, and many other applications where anti-microbial protection is needed.  It is easily added during manufacture and has no impact on the strength or durability of the plastic.

Symphony's d2p anti-microbial range of Masterbatches and Additives has been developed to resolve the issues relating to most types of bacteria whether gram positive or negative. These d2p technologies have also been proven effective against algae, mould, mildew, yeast and some viral strains in a diverse range of product applications. These include many different types of plastic resins, paint, rubber and silicone, in addition to liquid formulations that are presently being trialled in post-harvest applications for fruit and vegetables.

The d2p family also includes a suite of insecticide masterbatches for uses mainly in the tropics for protection against mosquitoes and other dangerous insects.

BAG FOR LIFE

This week Symphony launched the world's first anti-microbial bag for life with SANAFORTM antimicrobial technology inside, as shoppers are being forced by legislation to buy thicker bags and to reuse the bag over and over again. In practice, these bags are rarely cleaned or disinfected inside, and SANAFORTM antimicrobial technology can improve surface hygiene and to help prevent the build-up of germs.

Our mission is to create value in both the healthcare and food and retail sectors.

About Symphony Environmental Technologies plc

In addition to the d2p technology described above Symphony has developed oxo-biodegradable technology which turns plastic at the end of its service-life into materials with a completely different molecular structure.  It is then no longer a plastic and can be bioassimilated in the open environment in the same way as a leaf. The technology is branded d2w® and appears as a droplet logo on many thousands of tonnes of plastic packaging and other plastic products around the world. In some countries oxo-biodegradable plastic is mandatory.  For a video of d2w® plastic degrading see http://degradable.net/play-videos/4.

In addition Symphony has developed the d2Detector®, a portable device which analyses plastics and detects counterfeit products.  Symphony's d2t tagging and tracer technology is also available for further security. See www.d2t.net

In addition, Symphony Recycling Technologies ("SRT") is developing innovative and cost-effective recycling systems to convert scrap tyres and other waste-streams into valuable products (http://symphonyrecycling.net )

Symphony has a diverse and growing customer-base and has established itself as an international business with 74 distributors around the world. Products made with Symphony's plastic technologies are now available in 97countries and in many different product applications. Symphony is certified to ISO9001 and ISO14001.

Symphony is a member of The Oxo-biodegradable Plastics Association (www.biodeg.org) (OPA), the Society for the Chemical Industry (UK), and the Pacific Basin Environmental Council. Symphony actively participates in the Committee work of the British Standards Institute (BSI), the American Standards Organisation (ASTM), the European Standards Organisation (CEN), and the International Standards Organisation (ISO).
