The move and development of its Vienna affiliate is helping Symrise
strengthen its presence in Austria and throughout the entire
southeastern European market. The site expansion has allowed the
global fragrance and flavorings manufacturer to improve its services
to clients in the region and to develop products more closely
tailored to the needs of local markets. The focus of these efforts
has been on developing culinary concepts for fat-based products.
New offices and laboratories for the Sales, Category Management,
Development and Applications Technology departments have been
established on a 1300 sq. m. site in Vienna. At the heart of the
Austrian site is a gourmet kitchen where clients work with Symrise to
develop new product concepts. This significantly shortens the
development time required prior to product launch and gives clients a
clear competitive edge. Modern, fully equipped sensory analysis
facilities also demonstrate the importance placed on consumer
research at the Vienna site.
"For years now, our Vienna affiliate has played a central role in our
company's expansion into southeastern European markets," says Heiner
Schaper, President Flavor & Nutrition Europe, Africa, Middle East,
Symrise. "Our clients in this region think of the Vienna site as a
springboard to western Europe. Thanks to our expanded facilities and
outstanding technical opportunities, we will be seeing our already
positive growth rates on these markets continue to rise."
Symrise activities in the Austrian capital revolve around developing
culinary concepts and fat-based products such as margarine and
mayonnaise at our in-house "Margarine Competence Center." "We assume
that the role these products play will continue to expand in the
future," Schaper goes on to say. "The expansion of our Vienna site
has allowed us to further enhance our reputation as experts in this
field."
In addition, Vienna is also the home of the Applications Technology
department for sweets, snack items and beverages for southeastern
Europe. As Toni Weghofer, CEO of Symrise Austria, explains, "The new
sensory analysis and consumer research facilities allow us to develop
products for all of these segments that possess a great deal of
market relevance. We also provide on-site consultation for our
clients as a way to take full advantage of the potential in the
countries of southeastern Europe. This allows us to ensure that,
when using our flavorings and ingredients, our clients can
manufacture their products in their own facilities efficiently and in
consistent quality."
The new office and development building is located in direct
proximity to central Vienna and can be easily reached from the
airport. Symrise works closely with the Universities of Economics and
of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, which are also
located in the immediate area.
