Appointment of new Chairman

Yule Catto & Co plc ('the Group'), an international producer of speciality chemicals, is pleased to announce that Peter Wood is to become Chairman of the Group with effect from 1 February 2009, at which time Anthony Richmond-Watson will retire from the Board.

Anthony Richmond-Watson, who joined the Board in 1978 and was appointed Chairman in May 2000, announced his intention to step down at the Company's AGM in May last year.

Peter Wood joined the Board in 2001, was appointed Senior Independent Director in 2004 and is currently Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.  He has had a very successful career in industry having held chief executive roles at Ellis & Everard plc and The BSS Group plc. He is currently chairman of White Young Green plc and a non-executive director of RPC Group plc and Grafton Group plc.

Richard Hunting, Chairman of the Nomination Committee commented:

'After an extensive search process and following a thorough review of a range of candidates, it has been concluded that Peter is the most ideally qualified to take on the role of Chairman at this stage in the Group's development.'

Peter Wood added:

'On behalf of the Board I would like to express our gratitude to Tony for his many years of service as a non-executive director and for his wise counsel and guidance of the Group as Chairman through a period of much change. I look forward to leading the Group through its next phase of development.'
