COMELEON PLC (the 'Company')
APPOINTS TWO NEW NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS
comeleon plc, the advanced imaging technology company, is pleased to announce
the appointment to its Board of two non-executive directors, Dr. John Bridge
and Steven Bell, with effect from 19 January 2001.
Dr. Bridge, 58, is an economist who has extensive experience in corporate
planning and strategic development from roles in the public, private and
academic sectors for over the last 30 years. He is currently Chairman of One
North East, the regional development agency for the North East of England. He
is a board member of British Trade International, English Partnerships, and
Kenmore (UK) and is Chairman of the North East Seedcorn Fund and Northern
Sights. He sits on the Government's Policy Advisory Group on Aviation and is
Vice-Chair of the national Regional Policy Forum. Dr. Bridge also acts as
consultant to a number of private sector companies.
Mr. Bell, 24, managing director of Student Mobiles Ltd., which in less than 12
months has become the UK's largest supplier of mobile telephones to youth and
student markets. As part of the company's ongoing development, it has recently
developed a strategic partnership with National Union of Students, which has
enabled the company to become its preferred online mobile phone retailer.
Commenting on the appointments, Roy Stanley, chief executive of comeleon plc,
said: 'Our two new directors bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in
their respective fields. The company takes its role in the economic
regeneration of the area very seriously and the mobile telecoms sector is one
of our major target markets. Together, the expertise provided by Dr. Bridge
and Mr. Bell will be invaluable to the continued success and development of
comeleon and I welcome them to the Board.'
The Company is also pleased to announce the appointment of the Brendan
Campbell, 35, with effect from 15 January 2001, as operations director on the
subsidiary operating company board. Brendan was previously operations director
at Viasystems (South Tyneside).
