       Disclosure of Interest in Shares in Tanfield Group Plc ('Tanfield')

The Directors of Tanfield advise that Close Investment Limited has a total
shareholding of 1,710,206 ordinary shares, representing 2.77% of the issued
share capital of Tanfield.

This is a decrease on the previous total holding of 2,160,206 ordinary shares
representing 3.50% following various sales in July 2004. The remaining holding
is as follows:

Discretionary managed Private Clients (below 3% each) - 1,710,206, 3.50%
