        Shareholding in Tanfield Group Plc ('Tanfield' or 'the Company')

The Company was notified on 19 April 2005 by Ennismore Fund Management that it
purchased 1,300,000 ordinary shares in the Company on 31 January 2005.
Of these shares 617,500 have been allocated to the Ennismore European Smaller
Companies Fund (OEIC), which now holds a total of 2,516,000 shares representing
1.88 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital. The remaining 682,500
shares have been allocated to the Ennismore European Smaller Companies Hedge
Fund, which now holds a total of 2,609,000 ordinary shares representing 1.95 per
cent. of the Company's issued share capital. Ennismore Fund Management now
controls 3.83 per cent of the Company's issued share capital.
