Tate & Lyle PLC confirms that Mary Jo Jacobi - appointed to the Board on 1
October 1999 as previously announced - has held no other directorships in any
other publicly quoted company at any time in the previous five years and has
nothing to disclose under any of paragraphs 6.F.2 b) - g) of the Listing Rules
of the London Stock Exchange. Ms Jacobi's interests in Tate & Lyle securities
at the date of her appointment were nil.
