             Tate & Lyle PLC - Routine Meetings with Analysts                 
                                           
Prior to entering its closed period for the year ending 31 March 2002, Tate &
Lyle is meeting with stockbrokers' analysts. This follows the trading and
strategic update issued on 31 January 2002. 

We expect that results for the year ending 31 March 2002 will be towards the
higher end of market expectations.
