THAMES WATER PLC

Thames Water announced today that David Luffrum, Finance
and Planning Director, plans to retire from the Company
next year when he will be 55.
Bill Alexander, Chief Executive, said:-
'David has made a tremendous contribution to the
Company's progress during his 14 years as Finance
Director. He will retire in the year 2000 following the
conclusion of Ofwat's Price Review. The process to
select a successor is under way, assisted by Whitehead
Mann.'
Mr Luffrum has worked for 30 years in the water industry,
a period which encompassed the formation of Thames Water
in 1974 and the flotation of the Plc in 1989. He
commented:-
'My long career with Thames Water has been both
stimulating and satisfying - particularly the period
since flotation during which Thames Water has been
developed into a substantial and successful company in
the UK and around the world. I will be leaving the
Company in good hands and believe it is well positioned
to make further progress.'
