Taylor Woodrow wins planning consent for 2,300 homes in Swindon
Taylor Woodrow announces today it has received planning permission for the
development of approximately 2300 homes in the Swindon Southern Development Area
(SDA). These homes will form part of a major 309-hectare greenfield development
extending to 4500 homes including a mix of commercial, leisure and retail
facilities. This will be the largest housing development of its kind in the
south west of the UK.
The project involves Taylor Woodrow acquiring on preferential terms, land held
under option as part of its strategic land bank as well as the release to Taylor
Woodrow of council land in exchange for infrastructure works. The development is
designed to establish new standards in sustainable developments and will provide
housing for around 10,000 people.
Taylor Woodrow will begin installing initial infrastructure in autumn 2005. The
initial phase of building will be for 840 homes, the first of which will be
available for occupation by September 2006.
