                       T. CLARKE IN £1.55M ACQUISITION OF

                  REGIONAL ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR IN NORTH KENT



The Board of T. Clarke plc ('T. Clarke'), the electrical engineering and
contracting company today announces the acquisition of W. E. Manin & Co. Ltd.
('W. E. Manin') for a consideration of £1.55 million. W. E. Manin is an
electrical contractor based in Sittingbourne, Kent employing 60 staff. W. E.
Manin had an annual turnover of £4.26 million in the year ended 31 December
2001. Profits before tax for the year were £354,000. It carries out much of its
work for substantial local companies including Pfizer and Shepherd Neame,
regional contractors and local authorities.

Pat Stanborough, Managing Director commented,

' This is a very good addition to the T Clarke stable. It is a well established
business and has an excellent reputation in its local markets. There is very
little overlap with our existing operations and gives us a very good presence in
north Kent.

' T. Clarke is growing organically and by acquisition of bolt-on businesses. It
is our strategy to expand our regional operations and to increase our workload
in different areas. We have other acquisition opportunities under consideration.
We are confident that we will be able to update shareholders on our further
progress shortly.'
