Telefonica SA 14 January 2002 PRESS RELEASE LUIS ABRIL APPOINTED TOP EXECUTIVE OF ADMIRA MEDIA (SUBSIDIARY OF TELEFONICA, S.A.) + Juan Kindelan, new Chairman of Onda Cero. Madrid, 11 January 2002. - The Board of Directors of Admira Media, a subsidiary of Telefonica, S.A., (formerly Telefonica Media) resolved at its meeting today to appoint the Managing Director of Executive General Secretariat of the Presidency, Luis Abril, as the company's top executive, following the resignation of Juan Jose Nieto. Luis Abril will head the company in his capacity as executive Vice-Chairman and acting Chairman. This change in the top management of Admira is in line with a strategic change of direction in the Group's media policy, after the phase of asset consolidation overseen by Juan Jose Nieto over the last three years. The Board also appointed Luis Blasco as Vice-Chairman of the Group and Juan Kindelan as a director ('consejero') and member of the Standing Committee. The appointment of Jesus Mallol as General Subdirector of Management Control for the company completed the changes. The Board of Directors of Onda Cero, for its part, accepted the resignation of its Chairman, Javier Gimeno, who will be replaced by Juan Kindelan, whilst Carlos Lavilla, Admira's Finance Director, becomes the Managing Director of Via Digital, in the wake of the resignation of Juan Ruiz Gauna. Javier Gimeno and Juan Ruiz Gauna have been the architects of the launch of Onda Cero and Via Digital, respectively, which have achieved significant growth over the past year.
