SIGNIFICANT EVENT

On Wednesday January 23^rd, the credit rating agency Japan Credit Rating Agency Ltd. (JCR), applied when issuing debt in Japan, published its decision to lower the long-term credit rating of Telefónica, S.A. from A outlook negative to A- outlook negative.
