Templeton Emerging Markets Investment Trust plc ("the Company") announces that
at its Annual General Meeting held on Tuesday 21 September 2004, all of the
resolutions set out in the Notice of the Meeting were passed by the requisite
majority.
It is also announced that with effect from the close of the Annual General
Meeting today, Nicholas Brady has resigned as a Director of the Company,
Geoffrey Langlands has stepped down as Chairman of the Company and the Board has
elected Sir Ronald Hampel as the new Chairman. Mr Langlands will remain on the
Board as a Director of the Company.
The Board has resolved to appoint Sir Peter Burt as a Director of the Company
with effect from 1 October 2004. Sir Peter Burt's biography is attached.

Biography of Sir Peter Burt
Sir Peter Burt is currently Chairman of ITV plc and of Gleacher Shacklock Ltd.
He graduated MA from St Andrews University with 1st class Honours in Modern
History and Political Economy and MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's
Wharton School where he was a Thouron Scholar.
He worked in the electronics and computer industry for six years, initially with
Hewlett Packard in Palo Alto, before turning to banking. He joined the Bank of
Scotland in 1975 and became head of its International Division in 1985. He was
appointed Chief General Manager of the Bank in 1988 and Group Chief Executive in
1996. He initiated its 2001 merger with the Halifax, becoming Executive Deputy
Chairman of the combined business before he retired in January 2003.
As well as being a leading oil and energy finance bank, Bank of Scotland was one
of the first European banks to convert Latin American debt to equity in the
1980's.
