NEW APPOINTMENTS TO THE BOARD OF TESCO PLC
Ken Hanna and Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker have been appointed as Non-Executive Directors to the Board of Tesco PLC. Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker's appointment will take effect from 1 January 2009 and Ken Hanna's appointment will take effect from 1 April 2009.
Ken Hanna
Ken has been Chief Financial Officer of Cadbury Schweppes plc since 2004, and of Cadbury plc, its successor company, since the demerger of Schweppes Beverages in May 2008. He was previously an Operating Partner of Compass Partners and CFO and then CEO of Dalgety plc. He has also been CFO of United Distillers and Avis Europe plc.
Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker
Jacqueline was a Director General at the Ministry of Transport in the Netherlands from 2001 to 2007 and was most recently responsible for Civil Aviation and Freight Transport. Jacqueline was previously Director of Gigaport, an initiative of the Dutch Government to accelerate the introduction of broadband internet, and has held senior positions at Quest International, McKinsey & Co and Shell.

Ken is a highly respected finance director and also brings with him considerable knowledge of both developed and emerging markets. Jacqueline's experience in both the private and public sectors, and her strong international background, will be an asset to our Board.

Ken Hanna
As previously announced Ken will be leaving Cadbury plc in early April 2009 to become Chairman of Inchcape plc, where he has been a non-executive director since 2001.
He was previously an Operating Partner of Compass Partners from 1999 to 2004 and CFO and then CEO of Dalgety plc between 1997 and 1999.
Ken has also held the position of CFO at United Distillers and Avis Europe plc.
Jacqueline Tammenoms Bakker
Prior to joining the Dutch Ministry of Transport as Director General in 2001, Jacqueline was Director of Gigaport, an initiative of the Dutch Government to accelerate the introduction of broadband internet, from 1999 to 2001.
She was Vice President Foods Europe at Quest International from 1995 to 1998 and was a consultant with McKinsey & Co from 1989 to 1995.
Jacqueline held a variety of positions at Shell International from 1977 to 1988.
Jacqueline was appointed a Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur in 2006 in recognition of her contribution to cooperation between France and the Netherlands.
There is no other information required to be disclosed pursuant to LR 9.6.13R in respect of either Mr Hanna or Ms Tammenoms Bakker.
