Tesco PLC 21 December 2004 21 December 2004 NEW APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF TESCO PLC Carolyn McCall, Chief Executive of Guardian Newspapers Ltd, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Tesco PLC. Carolyn will replace Veronique Morali who is stepping down after four years on the Tesco Board to concentrate on her business commitments in France. Veronique will leave the Board on 28 February 2005 and Carolyn's appointment will take effect from 1 March 2005. Tesco Chairman David Reid said: 'I am delighted that Carolyn McCall is joining the Board of Tesco. In her 18 years with Guardian Newspapers she has helped build the Guardian brand and taken it into new areas. Carolyn's strategic and brand marketing experience will be an asset to our Board. 'I would also like to thank Veronique Morali for her contribution to Tesco's success over the last four years.' She has been Chief Executive of Guardian Newspapers Ltd since July 2000 having joined the company in 1986.
