                           Purchase of own securities


Following the announcement of the disposal of Speymill Contracts Limited, the
Company has now recommenced its share buy back programme. The Company purchased
on 27 March 2002, 1,000,000 ordinary shares of 0.5p each at 7.25p per share.

Since the buy back programme commenced in December 2001, the Company has
purchased a total of 4,850,000 at an average price of 7.46p per share.

The number of Artisan shares in issue following this buy back is 283,212,760.
