As required under paragraph 16.4 of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing
Authority, it is confirmed that Mr. Townsend is currently a non-executive
director of British and American Investment Trust plc, BRIT Insurance Holdings
plc, Finsbury Life Sciences Investment Trust plc, Finsbury Technology Trust plc,
Finsbury Worldwide Pharmaceutical Trust plc, Gartmore Balanced Assets Trust plc,
iimia Investment Trust plc and The Zero Preference Growth Trust plc.

Mr. Townsend resigned as a non-executive director of Finsbury Growth and Income
Trust plc on 1 April 2004. He also resigned as a non-executive director of
Metroking plc on 21 November 2001; Metroking was formerly known as HL Income &
Growth Trust plc and was acquired by Aberdeen High Income Trust plc in September
2001. He resigned as a non-executive director of Aberdeen High Income Trust plc
on 7 November 2003. Mr. Townsend was also a non-executive director of Adam &
Harvey Limited which de-listed from the London Stock Exchange on 16 July 2004.

There are no other details to be revealed in connection with paragraphs 16.4 of
the Listing Rules 6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.
