Thor Mining PLC ('Thor' or the 'Company') the specialist metals company
currently focussed on advancing molybdenum and tungsten projects in the Northern
Territory of Australia today announced the appointment of John Young as chief
executive officer ('CEO'), with effect from 30 June 2006.

John Alexander Young, aged 40, B App Sc - Geology

John Young is a geologist with business qualifications, a proven track record
and approximately 20 years experience as a geologist and exploration manager in
gold and specialty metals projects. His experience ranges from grass roots
exploration through to resource definition, feasibility and development.

Prior to this appointment he held the position of Exploration Manager with
Haddington Resources Ltd, an ASX listed special metals company.  He has held
various senior positions over the last 10 years with companies in Australia that
include: Arrow Resources Management Pty Ltd, Delta Gold NL, Metex Resources NL
and Battle Mountain (Australia) Inc.

John Young is a member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and
his appointment as CEO will allow Thor to continue to aggressively pursue its
corporate objectives including completing the definitive feasibility study for
the Molyhil Tungsten and Molybdenum Project and the Australian IPO and ASX
listing which was announced on 18 April 2006.

John Young has not been a director, shadow director or partner in any company or
partnership in the previous five years.

There are no further details to be disclosed under Rule 17 Schedule 2 paragraph
(g) of the AIM Rules in relation to John Young.

John Young currently holds no shares in Thor.
