The Company was informed on 14 August 2006 by The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. ('GS
Inc') that GS Inc, as at close of business on 9 August 2006, was interested in,
by attribution only, a total of 69,195,433 ordinary shares of 1p each in the
Company ('Ordinary Shares') representing 18.02 per cent. of the Company's
current total issued ordinary share capital of 383,899,498 Ordinary Shares.

The Company was further informed on 15 August 2006 by GS Inc that, as at the
close of business on 11 August 2006, GS Inc was interested in 68,598,451
Ordinary Shares representing 17.87 per cent. of the Company's current total
issued ordinary share capital.
