The Company was informed on 11 July 2006 by The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. ('GS
Inc') that GS Inc, as at close of business on 7 July 2006, was interested in, by
attribution only, a total of 68,031,820 ordinary shares of 1p each in the
Company ('Ordinary Shares') representing 17.74 per cent. of the Company's
current total issued ordinary share capital of 383,423,207 Ordinary Shares.


The Company was further informed on 14 July 2006 by GS Inc that, as at the close
of business on 12 July, GS Inc was interested in 68,794,120 Ordinary Shares
representing 17.94 per cent. of the Company's current total issued ordinary
share capital.
