TOREX RETAIL PLC
ANNOUNCES £30 MILLION IN NEW CONTRACTS
FOR FIRST QUARTER OF 2006
Torex Retail Plc ('Torex Retail'), the leading European retail systems provider
announces that it has made a strong start to its new financial year, having
secured in excess £30 million of new contracts in the first quarter of 2006 (Dec
31st - March 31st), including more than £8 million of new business in the fast
expanding US market.
USA:
In the USA Torex Retail has won major hardware and services contracts totalling
more than £1million with Academy Sports, Barnes and Nobel College Book Stores
and BJ's Wholesale club. The company has also signed services contracts worth in
excess of £2.2 million with organisations including Safeway and Bed Bath and
Beyond. The company has also secured hardware sales in excess of £5.9 million in
the first quarter.
UK Retail:
In the UK, the company's retail business unit has won more than £6 million worth
of new business, including a contract with fashion retailer Monsoon, who have
selected Torex Retail's Lucas Java software as its global strategic EPoS
solution. Other significant orders have been secured: new orders with Mills and
Group, Trago Mills and CDS Superstores (£430,000) as well as contract
enhancements with T J Hughes, who are installing an additional 80 lanes of the
Lucas OSM solution across six stores in a £250,000 deal.
Leisure & Hospitality & Gaming:
Torex Retail's Leisure, Hospitality and Gaming operations have also made a
strong start to the year with more than £6.5 million of business secured for
solution and hardware sales, as well as seven significant maintenance contracts.
The Hospitality business has secured a £2.25 million contract with Punch Taverns
as well as being appointed by French Contract catering company Elior, which has
11,000 sites worldwide, to provide solutions on a six site pilot project.
Torex Gaming has secured in excess of £850,000 worth of contracts to provide
solutions in locations ranging from the New Africa Casino in Dar es Salaam to
Sun International's Lestasi Casino in Botswana. The company is also deploying 68
terminals at the Leotrakin Casino in Greece. In the UK, a successfully completed
pilot with the Hard Rock Casino in Leicester Square has resulted in additional
work at this location. In the UAE, a £500,000 contract has also recently been
secured with Landsteinar in Dubai.
The Leisure division has secured contracts to supply the TLMS solution to
Councils across the UK from Slough in the South to Argyll and Bute in Scotland
as well as deals with Blaenau Gwent in Wales and Drogheda Council in Eire.
UK Petroleum:
The company's UK petroleum and convenience business has made a similarly strong
start to 2006 with more than £1.5 million worth of business secured with
independent retailers to date.
Europe:
In Mainland Europe the Company has made an exceptionally strong start to 2006,
with more than twenty contracts across eight countries, totalling in excess of
£6 million: these include a 11 European country-wide service contract with the
leading German retailer Schlecker; the deployment of the Lucas OSM solution
across 17 sites for France's Cafeterias Core and new PoS hardware for the
leading discount supermarket chain Migroa Aare in Switzerland. Finally, in
Scandinavia Nokia has committed to investing £250,000 to install Lucas Java.
